We Can All Make a Difference on Giving Tuesday

Every year on Giving Tuesday, people come together on Facebook to support and champion the causes they believe in by donating and fundraising for causes they care about. This year, Facebook and PayPal are joining together and are, matching up to $7 million in donations.

Our Work Matters

#GivingTuesday is an amazing opportunity for us to engage our supporters and continue our mission of taking care of our first responders and veterans. Every three days, we lose one first responder to suicide. Our mission has always been to network effective resources and have priority access to specialty care when it is needed the most. We concentrate our efforts into finding exceptional licensed, professional providers and institutions to include in our network of care. We provide guidance and support from the first call for help and continue through until they are ready. Since our creation in 2015, we have directly assisted 78 first responders and veterans through their journey of wellness including mental health care, addiction, and trauma (PTSD) care to get them back to living life. Over 150 more have found guidance through the network of care that we created to find the right resources and engage in treatment. Though we are a small organization, our footprint has been established through the work that has been accomplished and the partnerships that have been forged. This year, we aim to expand upon our networking abilities and provide additional services to the people who take care of our communities. All of this has been a major accomplishment and leap forward in creating a system of care that has been absent for far too long. Our passion is to keep this going, but we need your support!

Our Goals

  • Assist in the creation and implementation of special advocate position who’s focus is the individuals needs.

  • Expand selected provider’s abilities to manage trauma (PTSD) with certification in effective modalities such as Eye Motion Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) treatment. This is expensive and time consuming, but an important ability for our people and continuing to improve outcomes.

  • Develop new partnerships with properly credentialed, competent, and motivated professionals and organizations/institutions so we can increase the availability of effective help.

  • Provide increased technical support and professional guidance with organizations and institutions who share our mission.

  • Rebuild our care funds. These funds have been depleted over the past year because of the influx of people who needed help. These provide essentials to the person and their families while they are out of work with various items that are often not covered by insurance.

About #GivingTuesday

Founded by the team in the Belfer Center for Innovation & Social Impact at 92nd Street, #GivingTuesday is a global giving movement that has been built by individuals, families, organizations, businesses and communities in all 50 states and in countries around the world. This year, #GivingTuesday falls on November 27. #GivingTuesday harnesses the collective power of a unique blend of partners
to transform how people think about, talk about, and participate in the giving season. It inspires people to take collective action to improve their communities, give back in better, smarter ways to the charities and causes they believe in, and help create a better world. #GivingTuesday demonstrates how every act of generosity counts, and that they mean even more when we give together.
